Bathrooms underway

Today we tackled 2 bathroom projects. I painted the downstairs bathroom. It has beautiful original grey green tile so we wanted to juxtapose it with a big color. We chose a deep blue with grey overtones.Super happy with the color. Jim spent the day with his head in the toilet changing out the parts for ones from this century. It had a leak in it before and wasted lots of water, so now it's more efficient.Still thinking about what color to paint the upstairs bathroom with the mint green tile, swatches still on the wall, need to go with the boomerang formica we will be covering the vanity in.

  1. I tend to think a variant of green, to harmonise with your green tiles, rather than going neutral - or complementary on the colour wheel. Has it a window out of which you could take inspiration from the various greens framed in it? I'm about to splosh my tiny bathroom out in an extremely dark blue: Stiffkey blue, F & Ball, cos I fancied it, and I've inherited a fizzingly-bright-tangerine-topped vanity unit. It's too kitsch for words, but only recently installed by the previous owner as her pièce de resistance and selling-point in an otherwise very basic little space. Besides, as a unit it's very functional and I can't afford to change it at the moment, so I've decided to set about overwhelming it in a deep sea-blue. It was that, or acid lime-green to make an ironic statement, but that's a colour beloved of the 'feature-wall' brigade over here. Farrow and Ball is an awfully costly way to experiment and I may live to regret the 5 litres of washable finish that I bought on impulse from an interior-decorator in Nimes; but sticking with white or any shade of pink, yellow or orange would look totally hideous, so I'm going to give it a go... It'll take twice the amount to paint it out again in a safe beige, or grey, so wish me luck!!
